Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to reinforce its aerial protection systems. The first three manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Combat Situations

These UAVs utilize a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in actual battle and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of producing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and brutal” following six individuals lost their lives and dozens wounded in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital shortly after midnight on Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Zelenskyy stated the nation was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. The deceased had been at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Protest After Embassy Damage

The Azerbaijani government said it issued a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday following the embassy damage. The blast from a Russian Iskander missile destroyed a section of the embassy’s perimeter wall and resulted in serious damage to the diplomatic compound, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry reported. There were no personnel injured, and an official representative said the Kyiv embassy was continuing to operate.

Moscow's Aerial Bomb Production Sees Significant Increase

Moscow plans to manufacture up to 120,000 glide bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, including 500 of a new, longer-range version that can reach more towns and cities. Moscow's military have been launching hundreds of aerial bombs daily, with last month’s daily average standing at about 170, according to official military statistics.

Ukrainian Strikes Target Moscow's Oil Facilities

Russia’s maritime terminal of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments on Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff stated its military had launched domestically produced missiles and used various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in nearby Engels overnight.

Global Sanctions Affect Moscow's Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with interested parties regarding its international holdings after last month’s restrictions from Western nations and failure of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements are to be disclosed once the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” the company stated.

Ukrainian President Plans Visit to Spain

The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to confer with lawmakers following his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president would meet deputies from all houses of the legislature during his visit, the Spanish statement said.
