The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Critical Role Track
The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new introductory sequence. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching personal histories for characters such as the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.
Overall, the intro appears stunning. However, I felt that an element was lost in the music selection.
This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition created by artist the talented musician. This piece from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will love its inclusion.
But for me, The Mighty Nein's intro fails to capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when co-founder the performer added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.
Including singing from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my phone. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.
The Mighty Nein's opening with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's an impressive piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is a little off.
Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the animated show will have a few changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be one of them.
This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of the second series, the original episodes are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
