Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments this season because of the illness that has affected her over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in events in Asia but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting next year's training.

Those preparations are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

She was also playing far from freely in the final set in the match with Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has been a concern during parts of the season.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won twenty-eight matches during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled late this year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
