Recent Particulars Surface About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains
New information has come to light about the tragic deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Discovery
As detailed in an account quoting a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an session first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Additionally pushed back against circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation includes reports of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
