Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
