Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
